Are you considering using Swagbucks to earn some extra cash or rewards online?
If so, you may be wondering whether Swagbucks is a safe and legitimate platform to use.
In this post, we’ll take a closer look at Swagbucks and try to get answers to the following questions.
Is swag bucks (Swagbucks) safe and legit?
How do you make money on Swagbucks?
Should you spend your time on Swagbucks? Is it worth it?
Let’s dive in…
What is Swagbucks?
Initially founded in 2008, Swagbucks is a free online rewards program.
Here you create a Swagbucks account and earn points by completing different offers and doing various activities like
Searching the internet,
Checking out new apps,
Playing online games, and
Filling out online surveys.
Here you get paid in Swagbucks currency (called SB).
You can trade this currency in for gift cards or Paypal cash payments once you have as little as 300 SB.
As of June 2023, they have an A+ rating with the BBB and paid out over $893,736,909 to members.
If you need to make a large amount of money, it may not be the best option, but it can be an easy, simple source of extra income.
Now the burning question…
Is Swag Bucks (Swagbucks) safe and legit?
Just watch the video below and decide for yourself.
Now, let’s discuss how to make money with the app.
How to Make Money with Swagbucks?
There are several ways that you can make money using Swagbucks.
They include:
Answer Surveys
There are many polls and surveys on Swagbucks that let you give your opinion and earn SB (Swagbucks currency).
Ha, in fact, I tried surveys for 60 minutes to see how much PayPal money I could grab!
Check out my Swagbucks review below and see how I did…
Besides Swagbucks, there are multiple other companies that pay you to take online surveys.
Common ones include Survey Junkie, Inbox Dollars, and Swagbucks.
Here’s our article comparing Survey Junkie and Swagbucks.
And if you want a larger list, we have even more online survey sites compared here.
Shop Online
They will pay you SB (Swagbucks currency) when you shop at your favorite retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Target through their portal.
It’s very similar to how Rakuten works (which I have made $1,700+ back just by shopping through them – here’s $20 if you would like to try it for yourself).
Watch videos
You get paid for — you guessed it — watching videos.
Search the Web
By using the Swagbucks search engine browser that is powered by Yahoo, they’ll provide you with SB.
I am sure that they are sharing your browsing data and selling it to advertisers.
At least you get paid a portion of this back.
Play Games
If any of the games on their list are already games that you play, it makes sense to go through Swagbucks to get rewarded for it.
Some other apps that pay real money for playing games are listed here.
Deals, Offers, and Contests
There are many chances for you to get involved with special deals and contests from their direct partners.
How does Swagbucks work?
Swagbucks creates relationships with online brands and makes financial deals with them.
They get paid for providing data or results to their partners.
When Swagbucks gets paid, they are paying a portion of this to their members as a reward.
Take surveys as an example.
A large company could go out and find 1,000 people to take a survey about their product or service.
Or they can source an outlet that already has the 1,000 people ready to be rewarded for taking this survey.
Swagbucks is being this connector and getting paid for it. If it’s a good fit for you, give it a try.
Who should use Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is not a full-time job, but if you’d like to make a little extra cash, then it might be a great fit.
Swagbucks themselves wrote an article explaining that it’s a great way for teens to make some extra money.
Maybe you just love filling out surveys (there are some of us out there!), and you would do it for free.
Is that you?
Might as well get paid in gift cards to do something that you already enjoy doing.
If you’re just looking for a bit of extra pocket change for fun, it might be a good fit.
But if you want to really grow something, then you should start a side hustle instead.

To conclude: Is Swagbucks safe and legit?
Any time a company is large, they are going to have haters – it’s just a part of it.
The complaints that I’ve read about seem to be valid.
The complaints include low-paying gigs, slow customer service, and not getting paid for members’ actions.
Any time someone complains, you have to understand that their perspective may be different from others.
For example, I may watch a customer at a hotel get upset that they get fresh towels.
Still, something like this would never bother me because we typically don’t ask for any service whatsoever unless we’re staying for more than three days at a hotel.
But Swagbucks does have a solid rating from TrustPilot, and I would argue that this is probably a good gauge of how most users feel about the company.
My guess is that anyone that’s frustrated with Swagbucks had unrealistic expectations.
They probably were hoping to make more money than is going to happen on the platform.
But many users have made thousands of dollars — just a few are Tim, Diane, and Joan.

Disclaimer: While survey companies have been around for a long time, they’re definitely not the best way to make money. You will make a very low hourly rate (I did a test to see how many I could do in 60 minutes – watch it here). In my opinion, they only make sense if you have tons of free time and just like filling out forms.
