I Replaced My $300 Designer With Claude AI

In less than 1 hour, I designed and created a full media kit.

I used Claude. No Canva. No Figma. No designer.

This AI media kit workflow isn’t just for YouTubers.

If you need any kind of designed PDF (a media kit, a proposal, a one-pager, a pricing sheet, a lead magnet), the same process works.

Here’s exactly how I did it.

Step 1: Start a Brand Kit in Claude Design

I started in Claude and went to Design.

The project: a media kit for a YouTuber. So first I wanted a brand guide based on his aesthetic and his brand.

You don’t have to do this step. But it doesn’t take forever, and it’s totally worth doing.

I kept the model on Opus, the newest one. The earlier designs I’d made on Claude 4.6 were awesome too.

My prompt was simple: build out a brand guide for a content creator, based on images from his current website and YouTube channel.

Step 2: Feed It Brand Screenshots

Then I gathered screenshots:

  • His YouTube channel
  • His current website
  • His merch

My goal was just to give Claude an idea of what this brand is all about.

You’d do the same with your own website or whatever you’ve created.

Maybe you already have a full brand guide. But I imagine a lot of small businesses don’t, unless they paid a marketing agency. Or it’s tucked away in some files somewhere.

Step 3: Answer Claude’s Brand Questions

Claude came back with some quick questions.

I answered all of them. You can answer however you want.

Had I given more guidance up front, it probably would have asked fewer questions.

For colors, I said: “Decide for me. If what I sent you is exactly it, great. Then give me two or three options.”

Step 4: Pick a Cover and Stress-Test the Colors

It gave me cover options: A, B, and C.

I picked the color block one.

Then I asked it to review all the colors one more time to confirm the schemes work together.

That’s the exact same process I used to create the brand kit for my personal brand. I was definitely impressed with that output.

It’s what I used to design my free AI audit guide, “The five places your business is bleeding time right now.” You get it when you join my newsletter.

Step 5: Export the Brand Guide

When the brand guide was done, Claude Design gave me export options:

  • A standalone HTML file
  • A PDF
  • PowerPoint
  • Send it to Claude Code or Canva

I exported it as a PDF so I could pass it straight into the next step: the AI media kit.

Why I Build the PDF in Claude Cowork

For the media kit itself, I switched to Claude Cowork, the desktop app.

Why?

I’ve found it makes better PDFs than the web version.

So I asked it why. The answer: it runs Python on your computer, so it has libraries that can build a PDF file programmatically, from scratch.

That’s the way a PDF should be built.

Step 6: Build the AI Media Kit

I added the brand guide PDF and gave it the brief:

Build a media kit we can pass off to advertisers.

I didn’t want pricing. I just wanted our following and subscriber counts, so an advertiser can understand what’s valuable for their company.

Then I dropped in screenshots with the numbers:

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • YouTube thumbnails
  • Discord
  • The email newsletter (I almost forgot that one)

I could have sent links, but screenshots were easier.

And then I maxed out my usage limit and had to finish later. It happens.

The First Draft of the AI Media Kit

When I came back, the file wouldn’t load in the app, so I opened it in Google Drive.

Here’s what I noticed on the first look:

  • It had the wrong year. No big deal.
  • There were a few spacing issues.
  • The design was awesome. It even had a section called “Where the gang lives.” I love that.

On the first run, I only care about the design. The small stuff is easy.

You just talk to it and it fixes it.

The Takeaway

Less than 1 hour. One AI media kit, ready for advertisers.

The same workflow works for anything that needs to look professionally designed:

  • Brand guides
  • Proposals
  • One-pagers and pricing sheets
  • Lead magnets
